Annual dental check for our horses

After the age of five years all of our horses have at least one annual dental check. Professional routine checks are important because your horse will not always show signs of dental problems they are very good in hiding their pain. Meet your riding instructor: Renate

Hi, my name is Renate van der Steen. I am a fully licensed Natural Horsemanship Instructor. I have had the honor to work with several experts within the horse industry such as Michael van der Vleuten and Annemarie van der Toorn. “My goal as a natural horsemanship instructor and horse trainer is to help humans better understand how horses think, feel and interact. I teach all aspects of horsemanship from ground work techniques, handling, communication and confident riding at every level.

Welcome to 50 students from The Jordan University

It was an honour to welcome 50 students from The Jordan University agricultural studies, department animal production. A wide range of topics were explored during the field trip including feed and nutrition, resproduction and genetics of horses, behaviour, anatomy, health and diseases and different kind of breeds.

Goodbye Orion!

Saying goodbye is always difficult, but saying goodbye to Orion today made me sad inside. It was such a special journey together for past 4 years. I am forever grateful to Orion's parents for trusting me, even in difficult moments. I am extremely proud of the progress we have made together and I think back to the moments when Orion made very clever jokes and I had trouble holding back my laughter. I am grateful for the self-confidence I have developed in coaching the most fantastic children with a challenge. All thanks to Orion and his parents.

Tutorial: How to bandage a horse for exercise?

There are pros and cons to bandages. However badly applied can be detrimental and can cause more harm than good. If bandaging, it's important to put pads underneath to prevent over tightening, make sure you apply them with even pressure and no rugs or lumps/bumps in the bandages and pads, never apply bandages to wet legs.

Horse in the spotlight: 33 year old Ronak

This year Ronak turned 33 years old, which is very old for a horse. Ronak once participated in the FEI World Equestrian Games 2002 in Spain and has achieved several international successes, such as in Qatar. She has been doing light flatwork schooling for years and is now fully retired for some time but still enjoys being turned out every day.

Looking back at a successful event with Jumping Coach Joëlle van Wijk from the Netherlands.   The Alia Alassaf Academy hosted yet another fantastic jumping clinic with Joëlle van Wijk this past week. Everyone was exited to learn more and to build on what was learned previously. The focus of this clinic was jumping courses: especially to prepare some riders for the upcoming show season but also to get some helpful input about riding courses.
